Magnetic Component Quality Checks

Inspection scope is agreed for each magnetic component project. Check items, acceptance criteria, coverage and frequency are defined for the order.

Check items
Select the checks relevant to the drawing and operating conditions.
Coverage and frequency
Agree sampling or other coverage and when each check is required.
Acceptance and records
Define the criteria, test conditions and batch-report content.

Checks to discuss

Check itemProject inputsRecord scope to agree
Dimensions and fitDrawing dimensions, assembly interfaces and the tolerances relevant to fit.Dimensions to record, acceptance limits and the agreed coverage.
Magnetic field and fluxWorking air gap, field target and magnetisation requirements. Field distribution or harmonics where relevant.Measurement positions, method, conditions and the magnetic results required in the batch report.
CoatingCoating specification, thickness or corrosion requirements and the test conditions to use.Coating checks and test records required for the order, with the agreed method and acceptance criteria.
AppearanceRelevant surface condition and visible defects to assess.Inspection criteria, coverage and the required record format.
Magnetisation and packagingMagnetisation identification, handling and packaging requirements.Identification and batch-traceability information to accompany the components.

Items, methods, coverage and frequency are agreed per order; the list is not a fixed inspection plan for every component.

Batch report agreement

Magnetic field, dimensional and coating batch reports can be discussed as part of the order requirements.

Required content
Identify the check items, drawing reference and results to include.
Coverage and conditions
Set the inspection frequency, coverage and relevant measurement or test conditions.
Acceptance and format
Agree the standards, acceptance limits and report format before production.

Inspection questions

How do drawing revisions affect inspection?

Identify the changed drawing requirements when discussing the next order. The affected checks and report requirements can then be agreed for that revision.

How should quality documents be sent?

State the required standards and report requirements in the inquiry form. Email drawings and quality documents to sales@neolune.com.
